There are many ways in which school keeps an eye on how your child is progressing, they allow us to intervene quickly and appropriately should the need arise.

  • Baseline assessment through a reading age test on entering year 7
  • Spelling age tests
  • Private reading logs - each pupil has a private reading log and there is are termly rewards for the most ambitious readers
  • Reporter's Notebook - all Key Stage 3 pupils keep records of non-fiction reading
  • Set 6 in Year 7 are taught in smaller groups and they benefit from an extra two hours per week to boost their literacy skills
