This year some of our pupils from years 7, 8 and 9 have had the privilege to participate in the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize. The award aims to promote literacy in young people and to inspire them to read about science. It has been a fantastic experience. Thirteen pupils have read 2 or 3 books each, reviewing them and discussing them in pairs before voting for their favourite. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony in March.
''One of the books I have read was a brilliant book that shows astronomy in an amazing way," said Charlotte, in Year 7. "I loved all the knowledge of astronomy I gained from reading a single book. I do not normally read non-fiction books and because of this book I want to read and learn.''
Listen to some of our judges talk about a selection of the books they reviewed in the video below.
