5 February 2020

Yesterday evening we hosted our annual Careers and Options event. We were delighted to welcome so many pupils from years 9, 10 and 11 and their parents and carers.

A range of employers, training providers, college and university representatives supported the event. Many thanks to the representatives from: Army Careers service, BAE Systems, Cardinal Newman College, Cheynes Training Northwest, DWP, Harrison Drury Solicitors, Hutton Church of England Grammar Sixth Form, Inspira, Kirkham Grammar Sixth Form, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals IT Department, Lancaster Girls Grammar Sixth Form, McDonalds, MJH Accountants, Myerscough College, National Apprenticeship Service, National Citizen Service, PNE FC Community and Education Trust, Preston’s College, RAF, Rosemere Cancer Foundation - Radiotherapy Department, Runshaw College, Shout Futures, Training 2000, UCLAN and Westinghouse for supporting our school and advising parents and pupils on career choices, training, apprenticeships and courses.

Our independent school careers advisor, Shamim Khan, also attended the event. Shamim attends school once a week and to deliver professional and quality independent careers advice and guidance. Further information regarding careers advice in school can be found here on our school careers pages

Mrs Siddle, Acting Headteacher, and Mr Baybutt, Acting Deputy Headteacher, delivered an options talk to pupils in year 9 and their parents/carers. Teachers were also on hand to advise year 9 pupils and their parents and carers on their options subject choices. All year 9 pupils will attend an individual Year 9 Options Consultation with a senior member of staff on the week beginning Monday 2nd March 2020. If you haven’t already, please return your slip as soon as possible. Appointment times will be issued in due course. A copy of the options booklet is available to download and a Modern Foreign Languages presentation is available to view, here.

Thanks to the PTA for providing refreshments throughout the evening, to Miss Walsh for taking photos and thanks again to everyone who attended. We received many positive comments from parents and pupils. We hope that it was useful and look forward to hosting another successful event again next year.
