Our school dance department have had a few visitors recently, expanding the creative opportunities for Archbishop Temple School pupils. Firstly, we had a visit from Cardinal Newman College to promote their BTEC and A-Level courses. Our Archbishop Temple School dancers were invited to this workshop where they got an insight into natural movement through a dance college style warm up followed by some material from 'The Greatest Showman' and an opportunity to create their own choreography around this theme. I was very proud to see them take charge and produce some lovely work.
Secondly, Runshaw College dance students visited to perform their self-choreographed piece called 'BEHIND THE MASK' based on different forms of mental illness, from eating disorders to schizophrenia. This was followed by a student led workshop where Archbishop Temple School dancers got the opportunity to learn part of one of the dances. The dancers conducted themselves very professionally as performers and teachers, and Archbishop Temple School dancers listened and followed the challenging choreography well. The performance was very moving and our pupils really enjoyed themselves.
