Staff and pupils at Archbishop Temple School are celebrating today after the school was ranked within the top 3 state secondary schools nationally.
The Sunday Times Top 50 State Secondary Schools League Tables were published yesterday and the secondary school in Fulwood was ranked third.
Headteacher, Mrs Gill Jackson said, “I am absolutely delighted to see just how well this school has done in these league tables. It makes incredibly encouraging reading to see that we are 3rd in the whole country for our A/A* grades. I’m also very pleased to see schools we work closely with on this list too – clearly we know a thing or two about excellent education in Preston!”
Three schools in Preston appeared in the Top 20. Archbishop Temple School was ranked 3rd, All Hallows RC High School was ranked 8th and Broughton High School was ranked 11th.
The school's exam results are consistently among the best in the country. This summer over 90% of pupils achieved good passes in five or more subjects, including English and Maths, ranking the school as one of the highest performing schools in Lancashire. Despite worries about the new English and Maths courses, Archbishop Temple pupils achieved extremely high results. 97% of pupils passed with a new high grade in English and 93% of pupils achieved higher grades in Maths.
