Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February with the slogan ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’.

Staff within our school are committed to ensuring that all pupils are taught how to stay safe online and will be supporting the day with a series of activities focussing on image and video sharing. Staff will be looking at how sharing images and videos online can be a powerful way of communicating and a creative form of self-expression, however there are risks and potential negative consequences.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Globally, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
